PhD Research Study

“What is the impact of menstruation and the menstrual cycle on individual psychotherapists’ psychotherapeutic practice?”

Welcome

Hi, I’m Carys and I am a psychotherapist and researcher undertaking PhD research exploring the impact of menstruation and the menstrual cycle on the working lives of psychotherapists. I am studying at Bath Spa University. My research study has been approved by the School of Sciences Ethics Committee at Bath Spa University. I am passionate about understanding the impact of the menstrual cycle on our experience of ourselves in relation to our work as psychotherapists. I am hoping that this study will benefit menstruating therapists to enhance their work, knowledge and wellbeing in clinical practice.

I am seeking potential participants for my study and looking for qualified or experienced trainee psychotherapists to take part. Participation is in the form of an interview expected to be an hour long and this can be online or in person depending on your location. The interview will explore areas around your therapy practice, your relating with clients and any workplace considerations you have as a menstruator.

If you are interested in this study and meet the following criteria, please do feel free to download the following documents to inform you further and use the contact form below to e-mail me about your potential inclusion. You can email me directly here
